BATON ROUGE, La. — The No. 10-ranked Georgia women's golf team carded rounds of 308 and 301 in a 36-hole day at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Tuesday, putting the Bulldogs in 14th on the leaderboard at the University Club.
"We don't feel like this is who we are, but we accept the score," head coach Josh Brewer said. "The good thing is there's more golf to be played. We will go out and try to win tomorrow. We believe we can do that, and we will fight from the first swing until we putt out on the final hole. We'll look to end here on a great note and get ready for SECs next week."
Georgia closed the day well, with four golfers – Jenny Bae, Caroline Craig, Jo Hua Hung and Candice Mahé – all recording a birdie in their final three holes.
In the opening round, Georgia's counting scores were a pair of 75s from Craig and Hung and a pair of 79s by Bae and Mahé.
The Bulldogs trimmed seven strokes off that tally in the afternoon, combining an even-par 72 from by Hung, a 75 by Mahé, a 76 by Craig and a 78 by Bae. Hung recorded her fifth par-or-better loop of the season and her fourth in 14 rounds during the spring portion of the campaign.
