Bulldogs Rally Past Aggies 6-4
March 28, 2021 | Baseball
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS---- Georgia rallied for a 6-4 win over Texas A&M Sunday for the program's first win in College Station.
Â
The Aggies (17-9, 2-4 SEC) took a 1-0 lead in the third after Mikey Hoehner doubled and scored on a base hit by Kalae Harrison. Prior to that, Bulldog right-hander Jonathan Cannon had retired seven straight with five strikeouts. In the top of the fourth, a two-out, run-scoring single by Georgia's Chaney Rogers tied the game. In the fifth, a two-out walk to Kalae Harrison sparked an Aggie rally. Three consecutive singles followed and Texas A&M moved in front 3-1.
Â
Georgia (16-7, 2-4 SEC) missed a scoring opportunity in the sixth putting runners at the corners with nobody out following a leadoff double by Kameron Guidry and infield single by Connor Tate. A diving stop by third baseman Bryce Blaum followed, and he got Guidry trying to score. The next two Bulldogs were retired to maintain the lead. The Aggies added a run in the sixth for a 4-1 edge.
Â
Then, the Bulldogs used a two-out rally in the seventh to tie the game, getting RBI-singles from Josh McAllister, Connor Tate and Riley King off the Aggie bullpen. With the bases loaded, Aggie left-hander Will Johnston uncorked a wild pitch bringing Tate home for a 5-4 Bulldog lead. With two outs in the eighth, McAllister made it 6-4 with his team-leading fifth home run to give him a three-hit afternoon.
Â
Freshman Jaden Woods notched his first career victory, tossing the final four innings. He allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Aggie reliever Alex Magers dropped to 1-1.
Â
Georgia finishes a four-game road swing Tuesday when it faces Clemson (12-9). First pitch is slated for 6:02 p.m. on the ACC Network and can be heard on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.

Georgia's Acting Head Coach Scott DaeleyÂ
On the game
"We're down 0-2 in the series on the road, and then we're behind 4-1 in the seventh and Texas A&M was making some great plays in the field. Still, our guys clawed back and got the win today, and I'm proud of them. We are a very resilient bunch and this is something we have to build on. This team has a lot of fight and was a big win today."
