March 25, 2021 | Men's Tennis
ATHENS, Ga. – The 13th-ranked University of Georgia men's tennis team stays at home this weekend as the Bulldogs host No. 20 Kentucky Friday, March 26, before welcoming Vanderbilt Sunday, March 28. Friday's match is slated for 5 p.m. ET, while first serve on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Georgia is coming off an exceptional 4-2 win over the then-ranked No. 21 UCF Knights. The win upped the Bulldogs' overall record to 9-5, including three wins over ranked opponents, while improving to 3-4 in the SEC.
Five Bulldogs were featured in the first individual Oracle ITA Rankings since the preseason, released Wednesday. Georgia landed two pairs of Bulldogs in the top 80 doubles rankings; duo Trent Bryde and Tyler Zink earned their highest rank yet at No. 7, while Billy Rowe and Blake Croyder checked in at No. 64. In singles, Bryde ranks No. 20, Philip Henning ranks No. 29 and Zink improved to No. 68. Zink was also named SEC Newcomer of the Week, announced Wednesday afternoon.
Kentucky, who enters tomorrow's competition on a three-match win streak, boasts an overall 14-3 record. This includes a 4-2 mark in conference play with wins against LSU, Auburn, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Looking to tomorrow's match, Georgia will seek to take home its first win against Kentucky since the 2018 dual-match season. The Bulldogs own a 47-10 all-time series record over the Wildcats.
Vanderbilt currently holds a 5-9 overall record and is 0-6 in the SEC. The Commodores will take on No. 3 Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., before making the trek to Athens. Georgia has won 55 of the 60 all-time series matches, including the most recent in 2019.
While still limited, matches will be open to the general public— 275 fans are welcome to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Available seating will be marked in the grandstands, as well as the grass berm behind the lower courts. Fan seating will not be available in the men's and women's team clubhouses or in the playing level area adjacent to Court 3.
To enter the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, fans are encouraged to enter through the main entrance in front of the men's tennis club house. Masks are required at all times while moving throughout the facility. However, those in attendance may remove their masks once socially distanced in their seats.
Please note— if matches are moved indoors, fans will not be permitted to attend.
