No. 3 Bulldogs Get Third-Straight Sweep

Starkville, Miss. -- The No. 3 Georgia women's tennis team picked up its third-straight 4-0 sweep over conference opponents Sunday afternoon, defeating Mississippi State to improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in SEC play.
Junior No. 60 Meg Kowalski clinched the match for Georgia going three sets with Alexandra Mikhailuk and beating her 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Kowalski now owns a 18-straight win streak in singles action and remains undefeated this season.
In doubles, No. 37 graduate Elena Christofi and senior Morgan Coppoc defeated Emma Antonaki and Mikhailuk 6-1 on court two to improve to 10-1 overall as a duo and 6-0 in dual action. Kowalski and sophomore Lea Ma defeated Chloe Cirotte and Lilian Poling 6-3 on court three and are 7-1 overall as a duo, 6-1 in dual matches. Senior Katarina Jokic and freshman Ariana Arseneault suffered their first loss of the season to No. 41 Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine 6-3 on court one.
Singles played out with No. 73 Coppoc breezing through her match against Poling defeating her 6-1, 6-1 and No. 50 graduate Marta Gonzalez picking up her first dual match win of the season defeating Cirotte 6-3, 6-1. No. 16 Jokic, No. 31 Ma and Christofi all went unfinished in their matches.
The Bulldogs will return home and continue conference play against Florida on March 5 and South Carolina on March 7 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
