No. 3 Georgia Defeats Sweet Briar, 7-3

BISHOP, Ga. --- The No. 3 University of Georgia equestrian team defeated Sweet Briar College in a Jumping Seat-only competition on Friday afternoon at the UGA Equestrian Complex with a final score of 7-3.
Highlighting the meet was freshman Nora Andrews who scored a 90 in Flat- the highest mark among Bulldogs this season.
"We were so happy that we were able to come out and compete today," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. " We really appreciate Sweet Briar making the trip down. We were really happy with how everyone came out and had wonderful rides. I want to give a special shout out to Nora Andrews for scoring a 90 in Flat, that was extraordinary. There are some places where we have some little things we need to take care of, perfect reminder before our senior day tomorrow and as we hit the road traveling."
Georgia jumped to a 4-1 lead after Fences. Freshman Emma Reichow put the Bulldogs on the board with a score of 83. The Vixens won the next point. Senior Hayley Mairano finished the course earning an 80 for her ride and a point for the Red and Black. Freshman Jordan Toering followed outscoring her opponent, 79-77. In the anchor position, senior Ali Tritschler defeated her opponent 76-68 to secure the final point of the event for Georgia.
Georgia added three points in Flat. Sweet Briar won the first point of the event before Andrews rode to an impressive score of 90 to defeat her opponent's score of 71. The Vixens claimed the next point. Senior Isabelle Heckler secured the win for Georgia with a 78-73 point. Mairano closed out the day, grabbing the final point with a score of 74.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday for a "G-Day" meet in which the team will honor its seniors. Georgia is set to travel to Auburn for a meet on Saturday, Feb. 27 before closing out the season at Texas A&M on March 6. The Bulldogs will host the SEC Championship March 26-27 at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
