Student Athlete Advisory Committee Announces "The Giving Challenge"
February 10, 2021 | General
Athens, Ga. – The Georgia Student Athlete Advisory Committee, in a partnership with Auburn's SAAC, is gathering donated items under the name of the Giving Challenge. All donations will go towards supporting unhoused populations in Athens via Bigger Vision Community Shelter beginning Thursday, Feb. 11 through Friday, Feb. 19.
The Giving Challenge will provide an opportunity for Georgia students and fans to compete against Auburn to see who can donate the most items for this cause.
The list of donatable items include; shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, lotion and lip balm.
Donations can be received any time during the drive at the Engagement Leadership and Service Office in Tate Student Center room 102.
"We're super excited to be able to compete with one of our fellow SEC schools for a cause that is bigger than sports," SAAC Co-President Meg Kowalski said. "Being able to use our platform to help out Bigger Vision Community Shelter and those in need is something I believe any fan of any sport can rally behind."
Fans are encouraged to bring donations on the first day of the drive when the Lady Bulldogs take on Auburn Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. Donation bins will be available throughout Stegeman Coliseum.
