November 10, 2021 | Gymnastics

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia gymnastics head coach Courtney Kupets Carter has announced the addition of three GymDogs in the 2022 signing class.

The signees include: Naya Howard of Chesapeake, Va., Jacquelyn (Jacquie) Moran of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Ariel Posen of Manalapan, N.J.

"The future is so bright with the addition of these three amazing gymnasts," Kupets Carter said. "This is a top signing class with so much talent and demonstrated consistency that is sure to make an immediate impact in our program.  Naya has a big personality with a lot of energy. Her success at Level 10 Nationals proves she will excel in all four events at Georgia. Ariel has experience on all four events, but I'm most excited for fans to see her on beam and bars with her exquisite technique. Jacquie is coming in with four strong events and will excel on bars and beam immediately.  I am looking forward to seeing them shine throughout their collegiate careers and watching them compete in Stegeman Coliseum."

Naya Howard signs with Georgia after training at Ocean Tumblers. She was the 2018 National Bar Champion on top of being a national team member in 2018 and 2021.  She took second place on beam at nationals in 2021.  She has been a USAG national qualifier from 2017-2021.  Additionally, Howard was the first gymnast from Ocean Tumblers to make the Region 7 All-Star team member in 2018, which she then was a member of in 2019 and 2021 as well.

"Georgia felt like home the first time I stepped on campus," Howard said.

Jacquie Moran signs to be a GymDog after training at San Mateo Gymnastics.  She was the 2019 State All-Around Champion with a score of 39.025, the highest score of her career, and the 2019 Bars National Champion with her highest individual score on 9.900.

"I chose UGA because of the combination of high-level academics and athletics as well as the highly supportive coaches and staff I know want the best for me not only at UGA but throughout my life after college," Moran said.

Ariel Posen signs with UGA after training at Arena Gymnastics.  She has a five-star recruit rating on College Gym News with many impressive finishes and scores under her belt.  She is a 10-time State Champion and eight-time Regional Champion. She placed seventh on beam in the 2019 US Championships and qualified for Elite.  In 2018 she was a Junior Olympics National Level 10 Floor Champion and finished second on vault.

"I chose the University of Georgia because I loved everything about the school," Posen said. "From the supportive coaching staff and the incredible facilities to the unparalleled enthusiasm of the UGA sports fans, the beautiful campus and amazing college town and on top of all that, the quality and reputation of the education that UGA offers, all pretty much made this choice for me."
