GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Georgia senior Philip Henning battled his way through two three-set matches Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the ITA Men's Southeast Regional Championship.

Playing at Florida's Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex, Henning, the No 2 seed, rallied after dropping the first set against Florida Atlantic's Carles Sarrio. Henning came back strong in the next two, winning the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to the round of 16.

In his next match, Henning faced Florida's Abedallah Shelbayh. Henning got up a break and closed out the first set in strong fashion, drilling a forehand winner on set point. Shelbayh took command early in the second and forced a third, and in the final set, Henning broke serve to go up 3-1 and was in control the rest of the way, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Georgia's Blake Croyder, the No. 11 seed, won his first match Saturday, defeating Florida' Atlantic's Kevin Huempfner in three sets, 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-3. In the round of 16, Croyder came up short against Florida's Nate Bonetto, who prevailed 7-6 (3), 6-2.

After losing Friday, Hamish Stewart competed in the backdraw Saturday, winning two matches. Stewart beat Florida State's John Bernard, 6-2, 7-6 (4), and followed that up with a 6-2, 7-5 win over UCF's Bryan Triana. Britton Johnston also played in the backdraw, beating UCF's Cooper White, 6-3, 4-6, (10-6), before falling to Miami's Benjamin Hannestad, 6-3, 3-6, (10-3).

In doubles play, Georgia's seventh-seeded team of Croyder and Erik Grevelius fell to the No. 2-seeded duo of Hannestad and Franco Aubone of Miami, 8-5, in the quarterfinals. The Hurricanes jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the Bulldogs rallied and drew even at 5-5, but then the Miami tandem won the next three games to earn the win.
