Bulldogs Set for ITA Southeast Regional

ATHENS, Ga. — Eight members of the University of Georgia men's tennis team travel to Gainesville, Fla., this week for the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional. The action begins Thursday and will run though this coming Monday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
Representing the Bulldogs in Gainesville will be Hamish Stewart, Philip Henning, Blake Croyder, Miguel Perez Peña, Thomas Paulsell, Erik Grevelius, Britton Johnston and Mathis Debru. Georgia's doubles tandems include the combos of Stewart/Henning, Croyder/Grevelius, Paulsell/Perez Peña and Debru/Johnston.
Qualifying singles and doubles matches will take place Thursday, with Debru set to compete in singles and the duo of Debru and Johnston ready for doubles qualifying. All remaining Bulldogs begin competition on Friday.
This weekend's ITA Southeast Regional features players from 15 teams, including Georgia, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Central Florida, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Miami, North Florida, South Florida and Stetson.
This will be the fourth fall tournament for the Bulldogs this season. Paulsell and Perez Peña — a pair of freshmen — pace Georgia with five singles wins a piece. Henning boasts three singles triumphs, including a win against USC's No. 68-ranked Stefan Dostanic at the Southern Intercollegiate. The Georgia senior also teamed with graduate transfer Stewart to advance all the way to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Doubles Championship.
