Four Georgia golfers shoot matching scores on Friday

STANFORD, Calif. — The No. 18-ranked Georgia women's golf team fired a 296 in Friday's opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate. The Bulldogs are tied for 11th place in the team field with 36 holes to play.
All four of Georgia's counting scores were 74s on Friday as Jenny Bae, Caterina Don, Isabella Holpfer and Jo Hua Hung all signed for 3-over tallies on the par-71, 6269-yard layout.
"We're coming off some golf courses that yield lots of birdies to this point in the season," head coach Josh Brewer said. "We have to respect this course. It's set up like a high-level, championship golf course. We play an aggressive style and our aggressiveness probably cost us a few shots today. We'll learn and bounce back the next to days and attack the course a little differently."
No. 1 Stanford grabbed the first-round lead with an 11-under 273, nine shots better than anyone else in the field. The Cardinal's Rose Zhang is atop the individual leaderboard by three strokes after firing a 6-under effort.
For Georgia, Bae, Don, Holpfer and Hung all are tied for 40th individually. Caroline Craig shot 83, the Bulldogs' drop score, and is tied for 86th.
Georgia will be paired with Arizona State and Southern Cal for Saturday's second round, teeing off in 11-minute increments between 10:30-11:14 a.m. ET from hole No. 10. Live scoring is available via golfstat.com.
