Bulldogs Host No. 1 Tar Heels For Top-10 Showdown

Athens, Ga. -- The No. 7 Georgia women's tennis team is set to host No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m. at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.

North Carolina leads the all-time series against Georgia 10-2 with the last time these two squads squared off was in the 2019 National Indoor Championship match with Georgia coming away victorious, claiming its sixth National Championship, defeating the Tar Heels 4-3.

This will be the first time Georgia has squared off against the No. 1. team since facing off against Stanford in 2019, defeating the Cardinal 4-3 at the 2019 National Indoor Tournament.

North Carolina will travel to Athens 3-0 with wins over Notre Dame and Ole Miss and have qualified for the ITA National Indoor Tournament from Feb. 5-7 in Stillwater, Okla. as defending National Champions.

Seven Tar Heels are ranked in the top-125 for singles with three in the top-10. Alexa Graham claims the highest spot at No. 3, Sara Daavettila sits at No. 4 and Cameron Morra at No. 6. In doubles, North Carolina will bring three ranked duos with Graham and Daavettila sitting atop at No. 3, Makenna Jones and Alle Sanford at No. 15 and Cameron Morra and Elizabeth Scotty Coming in at No. 45.

Georgia is coming off a 7-0 sweep of Georgia State with no Bulldog ever trailing in their match and Meg Kowalski shining, being the first Bulldog to sweep her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in singles since 2017.

Spectator attendance will be limited to guests of the respective team members via pass list. No other fans will be allowed inside the Dan Magill Tennis Complex during indoor matches. Approved fans on the pass list should remain socially distant throughout the stadium.
