No. 7 Bulldogs Sweep Panthers, 7-0

Athens, Ga. – The No. 7 Georgia women's tennis team swept the Georgia State Panthers 7-0 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts to begin the 2021 campaign 1-0.
In doubles, the Bulldogs would take the doubles point swiftly with the duo of Meg Kowalski and Lea Ma being first to finish, defeating Ellie Aldrich and Maddy Frediani 6-0 on court three. No. 37 Morgan Coppoc and Elena Christofi were right behind them, defeating Alexia Alvarez and Angel Carney 6-1 on court two. No. 10 Katarina Jokic and Ania Hertel went unfinished up 5-2.
In singles, No. 60 Kowalski stayed perfect on the evening, not losing a game in doubles or singles, defeating Carney, 6-0, 6-0. Kowalski is the first Bulldog to sweep her singles match since Caroline Brinson and Marta Gonzalez both did against South Carolina State in 2017. No. 31 Ma finished right behind her, defeating Aldrich 6-2, 6-0. No. 16 Jokic bested Eva Chivu on court one 6-2, 6-1. No. 73 Coppoc rounded out the ranked wins, defeating Andreea Stanescu 6-1, 6-0. Hertel on court five went up against Denisa Gheorge and beat her, winning 6-1, 6-0. Alee Clayton wrapped up singles play going up against Frediani on court six, winning 6-4, 6-3.
The Bulldogs will continue their series of home matches on Saturday, Jan. 30 against No. 1 North Carolina at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.
