Track Closes Out Clemson Invitational In Style

CLEMSON, S.C. --- The Bulldog track and field teams registered yet another national leading mark to go with four other wins during the second day of the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Anna Hall, who started the year with a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday, went over the high jump bar at 6 feet, 1 ¼ inches to jump into the country's No. 1 spot.  Hall moved from No. 10 to No. 9 in the school record books with one of the world's top-10 marks this year.
 
Senior Destiny Jackson (200m), senior Delano Dunkley (200m), sophomore Sam Bowers (3000m) and the men's 4x400m relay team all tallied victories in their events.

The Low Down: Hall's showing in the high jump gave Georgia five marks that would rank at the top of the national list coming into the weekend.  Sophomore Shelby Tyler cleared 5-8.50 to earn runner-up honors in the high jump.
 
Junior Anna Marian Block started the 800m with a 30-second lap and managed a bronze medal finish with the top time of her career.  Block crossed the finish line in 2:08.45, which moved her from No. 7 to No. 6 in the Georgia record books.  According to the national performance lists coming into the weekend, Block's time would be No. 3 nationally this year.
 
Running his fastest time since arriving in Athens, senior Delano Dunkley shot to a 21.45 to finish first in the 200m.
 
Junior Elija Godwin started the 4x400m and he combined with sophomore Matthew Boling, Dunkley and sophomore Caleb Cavanaugh to register the top time for the Bulldogs since 2016.  The foursome registered a 3:10.39 to win by nearly two seconds.  Boling, who had a split of 45.47, was coming off a national leading time in the 60m on Friday while Cavanaugh won the 600m during the meet's first day.
 
The Bulldogs left the track with a 1-2 finish in the 3000m with sophomore Sam Bowers (8:20.35) and sophomore Chase Condra (8:26.32) two spots and a spot, respectively, ahead of sophomore Wesley John (8:33.20).
 
On the women's side, sophomore Sara Bailey posted a personal record of 10:15.62 for fourth.
 
Senior Destiny Jackson complemented her victory in the 60m on Friday with a win in the 200m on Saturday.  Jackson clocked a 24.74 to finish .2 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.
 
A day after the Georgia women locked down a victory in the women's pole vault, freshman Spencer Evans opened his Bulldog career by clearing three heights, including a mark of 16-0.75, to take third.
 
Junior Labo Oke overcame three fouls to start the triple jump and managed a third-place finish with a personal record of 48-2.75 on his fourth try.
 
Up Next: The Bulldogs will return to South Carolina to compete in the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C., on Jan. 23.
