T&F Teams, Eleven Individuals Earn Academic Honors

ATHENS, Ga. --- Both the Georgia men and women's track and field teams as well as 11 individual honors have earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors, according to a recent announcement.

The Lady Bulldogs posted a 3.44 team GPA during the 2020 season while the Georgia men finished with a 3.25 GPA during that span. Â

Teams are included as All-Academic squads if they post at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA.  Along with a host of other annual All-Academic Team honors over the years, the UGA women were named the 2017 USTFCCCA National Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year as well as the country's top squad in the category during the 2018 indoor season. Â

The Bulldog men's team was named the USTFCCCA National Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year in 2018 and 2014. Â

Individually, junior Johannes Erm (Mechanical Engineering – 3.4) and freshman Matthew Boling (Marketing – 3.49) were selected from the Bulldog men while senior Jessica Drop (Cellular Biology – 3.88), senior Amber Tanner (Public Relations – 3.73), graduate student Kayla Smith (Nonprofit Management & Leadership – 3.9), freshman Shelby Tyler (International Business – 3.93), senior Samantha Drop (Nutritional Science – 3.99), freshman Jasmine Moore (Marketing/Sports Management – 3.43), freshman Julia Fixsen (Horticulture – 3.81), freshman Anna Hall (Finance – 3.8) and sophomore Imani Carothers (Criminal Justice – 3.67) earned spots as All-Academic Individuals. Â

A minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and being ranked in either the top 96 in an individual event (top 48 for relays) indoors are mandatory for individual honors.
