Hartman Named SEC Freshman of the Year

ATHENS, Ga. – Led by freshman Zoie Hartman's three individual honors, 15 members of the University of Georgia swimming and diving team received 2019-20 Southeastern Conference postseason awards, as announced by the league office in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon.

Hartman was named SEC Freshman Swimmer of the Year, making her the second-consecutive Lady Bulldog, and 10th overall, to earn the honor. She was also named to the All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Freshman Team.

Hartman was joined on the First Team by senior Veronica Burchill, junior Courtney Harnish, and sophomore Dakota Luther. This is the third First Team accolade for Harnish, the second for Burchill, and first for Luther. On the men's side, junior Camden Murphy was named to the First Team for the second-consecutive season.

Eight Bulldogs were named to the Second Team, with senior Jordan Stout and juniors Danielle Della Torre and Gabi Fa'amausili representing the women's team. For the men, senior Walker Higgins, juniors Grant Norgan and Greg Reed, and freshmen Zach Hils and Harry Homans were recognized.

On the All-Freshman Team, Harnish and Homans were joined by Dillon Downing and Ian Grum. The three men selected tied Alabama and Florida for most on the roster.

For All-SEC teams, the First Team was comprised of first-place finishers in each event at the SEC Championships, with Second Team consisting of second- and third-place finishers in the events. The All-Freshman Team was comprised of each redshirt or true freshman who either reached the A final or was the highest scoring freshman at each championships event.
