Moore Finalist For National Field Athlete Of The Year

ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog true freshman Jasmine Moore has been named one of three finalists for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

Moore, a native of Grand Prairie, Texas, has already garnered Georgia's third USTFCCCA South Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year honor in the last four years and became the seventh Lady Bulldog to be voted the Southeastern Conference Indoor Women's Freshman Field Athlete of the Year since 2004.

Texas A&M redshirt sophomore Tyra Gittens and Washington fifth-year senior Olivia Gruver join Moore as finalists for the National Women's Field Athlete of the Year award. The three finalists will be carried to the final ballot, which will open on Monday morning and close on Tuesday morning. The winner will be announced on a date to be determined.

Moore grabbed top honors in the triple jump at the SEC Indoor Championships after soaring 45 feet, 1 inch on her final attempt to clinch UGA's fifth victory in the event in the last six years.  Her top effort in the triple jump this year of 45-7.25 led the nation and was ranked in the top 20 worldwide and also won her the Razorback Invitational with a meet record. Moore finished second in the long jump at SECs as her sixth try measured 21-1.25 to make her the top UGA scorer at the meet with 18 points. She is the top-ranked freshman nationally in the long and is ranked fifth overall.

Moore finished her freshman season undefeated (3-0) in the collegiate triple jump and had a victory and two runner-up finishes in the long jump in 2020.  Her triple jump personal record of 45-7.25 was just .75 behind collegiate record holder and former Lady Bulldog great Keturah Orji's American Junior record. Moore was slated to jump in both the triple and the long at the NCAA Indoor Championships before they were cancelled.
