Bulldogs Stand 7th In Southern Highlands

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The Georgia men's golf team slipped one spot to seventh on Monday in the Southern Highlands Collegiate.

The Bulldogs posted a 5-over 293 in the second round on the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club layout to move to 13-over 589 for the tournament. Southern Cal has the team lead at 6-under 570, followed by Texas at 3-over 579.

Senior Spencer Ralston paced the Bulldogs in the second round as he carded a 2-under 70. Senior Calum Masters posted an even-par 72, followed by junior Davis Thompson at 3-over 75, and sophomore Trent Phillips at 4-over 76. Senior Will Chandler had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of 7-over 79.

Thompson is eighth individually with a total of 2-under 142, eight behind Yuxin Lin of Southern Cal and three behind Ricky Castillo of Florida. The tournament's medalist will receive an exemption into the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which will take place Oct. 8-11, 2020, at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. Ralston landed at 3-over 147, followed by Phillips at 6-over 150, Masters at 10-over 154, and Chandler at 13-over 157.
