Opening Tip
  • Following four-straight games against top-25 teams, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs return home to host Missouri at 7 p.m. ET Thursday inside Stegeman Coliseum.
  • Georgia has won two of the last three meetings against Missouri and owns an 8-5 lead in the all-time series. The Tigers took last year's contest in Columbia, 61-35.
  • The Lady Bulldogs' strength of schedule is ranked No. 12 nationally according to the latest NCAA RPI release. Seven of Georgia's 10 losses this year have come against top-25 teams. The Lady Bulldogs are also one of four programs -- joining Washington State, Indiana and UConn -- to play both No 1 South Carolina and No. 1 Baylor.
  • Junior guard Maya Caldwell has scored in double figures in back-to-back games. Caldwell tied her career best against an SEC opponent with 15 points at Texas A&M and then followed with 12 against Mississippi State.
  • Georgia's Que Morrison totaled a team-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds at Mississippi State Monday evening. Morrison, who saw time at the point guard spot when Gabby Connally left the game due to injury, played 39 minutes against the Bulldogs from Starkville.
  • Georgia has outrebounded its last two opponents, owning a 34-38 edge against Texas A&M and a 35-32 advantage against Mississippi State.
  • A large reason for Georgia's rebounding success can be credited to Jenna Staiti. The redshirt-junior center totaled nine boards against MSU, marking the sixth time this season she has hauled in nine or more rebounds in a game.

UP NEXT FOR GEORGIA

Georgia hits the road to face Florida this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The game is scheduled to air nationally on the SEC Network.

CALDWELL, MORRISON HEATING UP IN SEC PLAY

Offensively, two bright spots for the Lady Bulldogs over the past week have been Maya Caldwell and Que Morrison. Caldwell has recorded back-to-back double-figure scoring games, while Morrison is coming off an 18-point outburst against Mississippi State.

Morrison's 18 points are the most she has scored against an SEC foe in her career. She also played a season-high 39 minutes.

DEFENSE TRAVELED TO FAYETTEVILLE

The Lady Bulldogs put together a remarkable performance against one of the nation's top offensive teams on Jan. 23 at Arkansas. Not only was it a season low in points and 31 below the team's average, but the Razorbacks also committed a season-high 20 turnovers. After being down 43-36 in the third quarter, Georgia went on a 19-2 run and outscored Arkansas 28-12 the rest of the way for the win.

SHANIYA PROVIDES SPARK

Georgia guard Shaniya Jones provided a much-needed offensive spark for the Lady Bulldogs, tallying back-to-back double-figure scoring games in wins against Auburn and Arkansas. Jones has seen a considerable uptick in playing time, seeing the floor for a career-high 21 minutes against Auburn and then 20 minutes at Arkansas.

CALDWELL'S OFFENSIVE IMPORTANCE

Maya Caldwell has started 21 of 22 games this season and has reached double figures 12 times. The Lady Bulldogs own a 7-5 record this season when Caldwell scores in double digits.

In games won, she is the team's second-leading scorer with 11.3 points per game, hitting 43.2 percent of her shots. In 10 losses, Caldwell averages 8.5 ppg.

OVERCOMING BAD QUARTERS

Georgia has scored in single digits in at least one quarter during nine games this season. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-8 when having at least one 'bad' quarter in a game, with the lone win coming on Jan. 19 against Auburn.

LADY BULLDOGS APPROACHING 1,000 WINS; COACH TAYLOR CLOSING IN ON 100

With seven games left on the regular season schedule, the Lady Bulldogs are closing in a few important milestones. Georgia is just eight victories away from becoming one of 14 programs nationwide to record 1,000 wins and just seven triumphs away from giving Coach Taylor her 100th career victory.

LARGE CROWDS AT STEGEMAN

Georgia has hosted large crowds at Stegeman Coliseum in the last two home games. A week after welcoming 4,888 spectators against Auburn, the Lady Bulldogs drew 6,047 fans against South Carolina this past Sunday. The announced attendance of 6,047 was the largest home crowd in six seasons, excluding Elementary School Day games.

NICHOLSON'S FEAT LEADS TO SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK HONOR

Javyn Nicholson had a strong finish to 2019 and an impressive start to her collegiate career.

The Lawrenceville native became the first Lady Bulldog rookie since Tasha Humphrey in 2004 to record back-to-back double-doubles when she totaled 22 points and 10 boards against Gardner-Webb and 10 points, 10 rebounds versus East Carolina.

FRESHMEN POSTS PLAY WELL IN OPENER

Freshmen forwards Javyn Nicholson and Jordan Isaacs played valuable minutes in the first SEC game of their careers against Ole Miss on Jan. 2. Isaacs knocked in two shots in the second half, each giving Georgia the lead in a tie game. Nicholson played 25 minutes, including all 10 in the fourth quarter, and finished with nine boards.

FREE-THROW NUMBERS IMPROVE FOR LADY BULLDOGS

As a team, Georgia has hit 80 percent or better from the free-throw line seven times this season. The Lady Bulldogs only hit that 80 percent mark six times all of last season (30 games). After finishing the 2018-19 campaign ranked 12th in the SEC in free-throw percentage, Georgia is currently ranked third with a 72.9 percent clip.

TOP-25 SUCCESS UNDER TAYLOR

Georgia has won 10 games against top-25 opponents during head coach Joni Taylor's tenure. Georgia's last win against a top-10 team in Athens came in Coach Taylor's first season, when the Lady Bulldogs knocked off No. 10 Mississippi State, 47-43.
