Bulldogs Add NCAA Cuts on Opening Day of Bulldog Invite

ATHENS, Ga. –  On a rare February 29 outing, University of Georgia swimming and diving expanded its index of NCAA cut times Saturday on the first day of competition at the Bulldog Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Georgia amassed seven new B-cut times, with senior Lexi Glunn and freshman Charlie Logan vaulting into NCAA contention with their first provisional times of the season. Glunn posted a PR of 1:01.26 in the 100 breaststroke, while Logan jumped over four seconds from his entry time to notch a mark of 4:21.27 in the 500 freestyle.

The men's 200 medley relay team of juniors Youssef Said, Jack Dalmolin, Camden Murphy, and freshman Dillon Downing highlighted the day with a narrow B-cut time of 1:24.90, the sixth-fastest time in school history.

Junior Courtney Harnish returned from a five-medal performance at the SEC Championships with a strong day of swimming, picking up a B-cut in the 200 backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:53.68. Harnish also set new personal bests in the 100 butterfly (52.59 – B-cut) and 50 freestyle (22.88).

In winning the women's 200 backstroke, sophomore Maddie Homovich turned in a season-best time of 1:53.95, while senior Jordan Stout's time of 1:46.02 in the 200 freestyle was her best of the year. Homovich was joined in victory by fellow sophomore Dakota Luther, as she took the 200 free at 1:47.79.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs added three B-cuts in butterfly events, beginning with freshman Harry Homans' time of 46.82 in the 100 fly. In a 200 fly time trial, sophomore Andrew Abruzzo (1:45.05) and juniors Greg Reed (1:46.19) leapt into the national rankings with B-cuts of their own.

The Bulldog Invitational concludes Sunday with six individual events, including the 1,650 freestyle, and two relays. Following Sunday's action, the qualifying Bulldogs are bound for their NCAA postseason events, starting with the Zone B Diving Championships on March 9-11 in Athens.
