Georgia Kickstarts Weekend Action with First SEC Match of 2019-20 Season

ATHENS, Ga. — The 35th-ranked Georgia men's tennis team will host nationally-ranked foes Tennessee and Ohio State this Friday and Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. First, the Bulldogs take on No. 10 Tennessee during Friday's 2:30 p.m. matchup.
Friday's contest marks the first SEC match for both teams of the 2019-20 dual season. Georgia will cap the weekend's action Sunday afternoon against third-ranked Ohio State at 2:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back home wins earlier this week. Georgia defeated FAU, 6-1, on Monday before blanking the Mercer Bears, 7-0, Tuesday. Georgia head coach Manuel Diaz enters the weekend with 705 career wins, trailing Bulldog great Dan Magill's mark (706) by only one victory.

- Head coach Manny Diaz is approaching the SEC record for all-time career head coaching wins. Diaz, who is now in his 32nd year at the helm, has recorded 705 wins and trails only Bulldog great Dan Magill (706).

- Sophomore Trent Bryde is Georgia's highest-ranked player, coming in at No. 22 in singles. In doubles, he and freshman Tyler Zink rank 36th.
- Sophomore Philip Henning, the No. 26-ranked singles player in the nation, leads Georgia with five wins against ranked opponents.
- In the latest singles ITA rankings, Zink came in 72nd while sophomore Blake Croyder grabbed the No. 95 spot.
- Bryde was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 12. He continued an impressive start to his second collegiate season with a win against Texas' No. 2-ranked Yuya Ito at the No. 1 singles court on Feb. 8.
- Dating back to the 2019 dual-match season, Croyder has won 14-straight singles matches. He is currently on a six-match win streak for the dual season.
- Freshman Grevelius leads Georgia in overall wins this season with 18. Henning follows with 17 total wins.
