COLUMBIA, S.C.—The fifth ranked University of Georgia equestrian team fell to No. 3 South Carolina, 14-5, on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, S.C.

Seniors highlighted today's meet scoring four of Georgia's five points.

Senior Maddy Darst's earned Most Outstanding Performance (MOP) honors for her ride on Flat. This marks Darst's highest Flat score this season and third MOP honor for this event.

"Today hurt," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "This is not the outcome we were looking for. These were not some of the rides we have been giving all week. I don't want to distract at all from some outstanding rides and huge high scores from Sara Lewis and Maddy Darst—really brilliant moments. We have to consistently be there a bit more. This is that wakeup call that we needed to say, 'What is our outcome going to be for the rest of the year?' That is what we use to put into work tomorrow."

Seniors shined in Flat earning both of Georgia's points for the event tying USC, 2-2. After senior Ali Tritschler matched Madison Sellman's 80, fellow senior Grace Bridges earned the first point for the Bulldogs (4-5, 1-5 SEC) scoring an 84 for her ride. Darst finished the event riding to a stellar score of 89.

The Gamecocks (6-4, 3-2 SEC) claimed an early lead in Reining, 4-1. Senior Julia Spreng notched Georgia's lone point for the event edging Addie Cromer 66.5 to 61.

At the half, Georgia trailed USC, 6-3, at the break.

USC held the lead in Fences, 4-1. Senior Kate Kramer beat her opponent, 85-82, earning the only Georgia point for the event.

In Horsemanship, sophomore Sara Lewis rode to a career-high score of 78.5 defeating Kiersten Beckner's 75. The Gamecocks remained in control winning the event, 4-1.

Georgia will take competition back to Bishop, Ga., to host a tri-meet contest. The Bulldogs face Delaware State on Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. to then take on Tennessee at Martin on Saturday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m. A neutral matchup between the Hornets and Skyhawks will follow the conclusion of Saturday morning's competition.
