Georgia Poised for SEC Tournament

NOTES
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. --- The University of Georgia soccer team is set to take the field against Auburn as the nine-seed of the Southeastern Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs face the Tigers on Sunday, November 15 at 5 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
GEORGIA IN THE SEC TOURNAMENT
The Bulldogs are making their third trip to the SEC Tournament under head coach Billy Lesesne and 19th overall appearance. Georgia's record in the conference tournament is 11-18-1, with three trips to the finals - most recently in 2008.
After a first round bye, the Bulldogs fell to South Carolina, 1-0, at last year's tournament.
BULLDOGS STEPPING UP
After being hit with cases of COVID-19 and subsequent quarantines due to close contacts, the Bulldogs will test their depth for the game. A total of nine players will be out due to COVID-related quarantines and four Bulldogs have injuries that will keep them from playing as well.
A GREAT START
The Bulldogs started the season with a 2-0-2 record. It's the longest the Bulldogs have gone without a loss since 2010. Georgia dropped its first game of the season to Auburn, falling to 2-1-2.
Additionally, it's the best overall start the Bulldogs have had since 2009, when UGA went 7-0-1 in nonconference play.
FOUR BULLDOGS RECIEVE ALL-SEC HONORS
Georgia soccer players, junior midfielder Abby Boyan, senior defender Kayla Bruster, junior defender Cecily Stoute, and junior goalkeeper Emory Wegener, have garnered All-Southeastern Conference accolades.
Boyan was a first-team selection, while Bruster, Stoute, and Wegener were named to the second-team.
Boyan leads the team with two goals scored this season, both of which were game-winners. She attempted 22 shots with 10 on frame. She leads field players in minutes, having played a full seven games this season.
Bruster and Stoute are key components to Georgia's defense, which ranks second in the league for shutouts. Bruster started in six games before missing the last match due to a having surgery on a broken finger suffered at Vanderbilt. She took four shots with two on target. Stoute started in all seven games and only missed a total of eight minutes of playing time. She had one shot on goal.
Wegener is the SEC's active goalkeeper with the most starts. She played a full seven games, making a total of 31 saves and earning two shutouts. Until Georgia's final game of the regular season she had only allowed four goals.
LAST GAME AGAINST AUBURN
After a hard-fought battle, then- No. 12 Georgia was handed its first loss of the season against the Auburn Tigers, 1-0.
The Bulldogs notched 21 shots and two corner kicks throughout 90 minutes of play. The lone goal for the Tigers came in the 57th minute off a penalty kick.
LAST TIME OUT-- at Ole Miss
Georgia produced its highest scoring output of the season, but was spooked by the Ole Miss Rebels in the final minute of the match to fall 4-3 in a Halloween thriller.
