Bulldogs Set For Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia men's golf team will continue the fall portion of the 2019-20 season next week in the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in Choudrant, La.
Tournament Format: 18 holes of stroke play each day Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Tee times will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and Monday, followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday. Teams will have lineups of five players, with the low four counting.
Course: Squire Creek Country Club (par 72, 7,070 yards).
Lineup: Seniors Calum Masters and Spencer Ralston, junior Davis Thompson, sophomore Trent Phillips, and freshman Connor Creasy. Sophomore Will Kahlstorf will compete as an individual.
Field: Georgia, Central Arkansas, Lamar, Louisiana Tech (host), Mercer, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Troy, and UAB.

Last Season: Heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round, leaving Georgia and Phillips second in the team and individual competitions, respectively. The Bulldogs were two shots in back of UAB and Phillips trailed the Blazers' William Walker III by one when the tournament was called. Ralston and Thompson placed fourth at 5-under 139, and Kahlstorf, playing as an individual, took eighth at 3-under 141.
News & Notes: Creasy, a native of Abingdon, Va., will be making his collegiate debut. … Phillips leads the SEC with a scoring average of 68.33, while Thompson and Ralston are fourth at 69.67. … Ralston has appeared in 37-of-37 collegiate events entering the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. Phillips is 12-for-12. … Phillips has been chosen as a Golfweek Preseason First Team All-American. … Chris Haack is in his 24th season as the Bulldogs' head coach. Dick Copas (1971-96) and Howell Hollis (1946-70) served as Georgia's head coach for 26 and 25 seasons, respectively.
Coach Chris Haack Says: "Our qualifying rounds the last couple of weeks have been very competitive. The guys have been pushing each other to get better. Our depth is allowing that to happen. … We're excited to see Connor in his first tournament setting. He has been pretty solid in the qualifiers. I'm sure he'll be dealing with some butterflies on the first tee, but I'm confident he'll settle in after that and just play his game. … We were right in the thick of it last year when the rain started, so we feel like we have some unfinished business. The course sets up well for us, so we're excited about getting another crack at it."
On Deck: After the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs will conclude the fall in the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational Tournament in Oregon, the Crooked Stick Invitational in Indiana, and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii.
