Colleen Johnson Joins Equestrian Staff

ATHENS, Ga. ---Colleen Johnson, a founding team member of the University of Georgia equestrian program, is joining the staff as Program Specialist, head coach Meghan Boenig has announced.
"We are thrilled to welcome back home Colleen Johnson as our program specialist," Boenig said. "She helped pave the way for our program as an inaugural member of the team during our first season in 2002 and will continue to pave our success for the future. Colleen has always displayed a 'can do' attitude, impeccable work ethic, and true passion for the Georgia Bulldogs. This vital position has grown significantly over the last years from the passionate and dedicated previous employees. Her combined experiences with management, teaching and horses after college will be valuable assets to our program because they are coupled with her desire for the success of our riders both in and out of the arena."
Johnson was a member of the inaugural team in 2002, which competed under Intercollegiate Horse Show Association rules and won back back-to-back Overall and Hunt Seat Varsity Equestrian National Championships in 2003 and 2004.
"I am ecstatic to be home again with UGA Equestrian," Johnson said. " In 2002, it was hard to imagine this program at the level it is today. But the drive of the coaching staff and dedication of each team member has elevated the team to where we are now. It was a unique opportunity then, as it is now, to be a part of this program and I am looking forward to this season."
