MINNEAPOLIS – Following a 36-hour weather delay, Georgia softball resumed its game against Drake Monday morning, holding on and defeating Drake 7-4.
Game 5 of the Minneapolis Regional was sent into a delay Saturday during the fifth inning and resumed Monday with Georgia (42-18) leading 4-2.

Georgia jumped out to an early lead in the opening frame on a two-run home run off the bat of Febrey, 2-0 Bulldogs.
Drake (43-16) wasted no time responding in the bottom half of the inning. Back-to-back singles and a one-out walk loaded the bases. Back-to-back RBI singles plated the early tying runs to knot the game at 2-2 after one inning.
With runners on the corners, Jessica Morgan threaded a base hit through the left side to drive in DiCarlo and retake a one-run lead in the top of the third, 3-2.
DiCarlo capitalized on a runners-on-the-corners situation with two out in the fourth, dropping a single into center, driving in Savana Sikes and lengthening the lead to two, 4-2.
The game was sent into a weather delay at 10:06 p.m., local time, Saturday and was resumed at 10:05 a.m. Monday in the fifth inning.
