Elena Christofi Receives Academic Honor

ATHENS, Ga. ----- Georgia junior Elena Christofi has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District™ Women's At-Large First Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. 
 
The team is selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Christofi, an Athens, Greece native, carries a 3.97 grade point average in Finance. She owns a 19-5 overall record in singles and a 21-9 mark in doubles for the top-seeded Bulldogs in the NCAA Tournament. Going into the NCAA Quarterfinals, Christofi holds an 11-match singles win streak and a 16-match doubles win streak. Playing exclusively on court five in dual singes, she is 15-2. In doubles, Christofi pairs with sophomore Vivian Wolff for an unblemished 16-0 record on court two during dual play. 
 
As a First-team Academic All-District™ honoree, Christofi will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected in June. The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Christofi made the District 4 team, which consists of student-athletes from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
