Georgia Heading to Minneapolis Regional

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia softball team is headed to the Minneapolis Regional for the NCAA Tournament, it was announced Sunday evening.Â

The Bulldogs will be the no. 2 seed in the regional hosted by nationally-seeded no. 7 Minnesota. Drake and North Dakota State will also be in the Minneapolis Regional set to begin Friday, May 17. Georgia and Drake will face off Friday at 7 p.m., ET, on ESPN2.Â

The 2019 NCAA Tournament will be the 18th-consecutive appearance for the Bulldogs. Georgia will look to make a run to its fifth Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Georgia holds a 67-37 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have also advanced to 10 Super Regionals in the history of the program.Â

Georgia enters the postseason with a 40-17 record, the 17th40-win season for the program, topped at this week's SEC Tournament.Â
