DiCarlo Announced Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senior Georgia softball student-athlete Alyssa DiCarlo has been named a top-26 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, USA Softball announced Wednesday afternoon.

This is the second-straight season as a top-26 finalist for the Glendale, Arizona native. Last season, she and Cortni Emanuel were both finalists. The 2019 season is the seventh season Georgia has placed a student-athlete in the top 25. Alisa Goler (2009) is Georgia's lone top-10 finalist in the history of the award.

DiCarlo is one of eight from the Southeastern Conference to appear on the list.

Entering Wednesday evening's game against Georgia State, DiCarlo is batting .411 while knocking 20 home runs and driving in 51 runs. She's slugging .984 with a .549 on-base clip. Her national rankings include being fourth in home runs and slugging, sixth in total bases (127), ninth in walks per game (0.90), 12th in on base percentage, and 19th in runs per game (1.08).

DiCarlo has toppled Georgia's career records for home runs (65), RBI (245), and extra-base hits (122). She's four bases away (520) from breaking the record of 523. She tied for the fastest Bulldog to 10 home runs (21 games) and became the fasted to hit 20 (41) this season.

During the Apr. 15 game at Alabama, she was drafted as the fourth-overall pick of the National Pro Fastpitch Draft to the Chicago Bandits.

The list of 26 Finalists will be narrowed to the 10 Finalists on May 8 before the Top 3 Finalists will be announced on May 22. The 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 28.

DiCarlo and the 15th-ranked Bulldogs host Georgia State Wednesday then hit the road for a three-game series at #14 South Carolina beginning Friday.
