Mairano Honored as NCEA and SEC Rider of the Month

ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Hayley Mairano of the University of Georgia equestrian team has been named Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Month by both the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) for the month of January.
These recognitions mark the first collegiate honors for the Simsbury, Conn., native.
On the road at University of Tennessee at Martin, Mairano defeated her opponent by a six-point margin and claim her first career Most Outstanding Performance (MOP) honor for her ride. The Bulldog has a 5-2 overall record (2-1 Equitation Over Fences) with an average margin of victory of 5.8 points. The standout has claimed three of four away meet points and holds a 2-1 winning record on Georgia's home footing.
The No. 8 Georgia equestrian team will host No. 2 Texas A&M for the first home meet of the spring on Saturday, February 11, at 11 a.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga. Earlier this season, the Bulldogs upset the Aggies in College Station, 11-8, to end the fall. Admission to the UGA Equestrian Complex is free.
