Bulldogs Fall in Oracle ITA National Fall Championships

ATHENS, Ga. — Two Bulldogs fell in the singles draw while a pair of doubles suffered a loss in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif. on Wednesday.
In the 64-player singles, both Bulldogs faced veteran All-American players. No. 37th-ranked junior Vivian Wolff fell to No. 7th-ranked Sara Daavettila of North Carolina in straight sets 6-1,6-3. Wolff completes her fall campaign finishing 11-7 on the season, highlighted by an upset over third-ranked Makenna Jones of North Carolina.
Also falling in straight sets, freshman Lea Ma battled the top-seeded Elysia Bolton of UCLA to a 6-2,6-2 decision.
Ma, ranked No. 5 on the freshman/newcomers list by the ITA, concludes the first fall tennis action of her collegiate career with an impressive 12-4 singles mark.
Both Wolff and Ma will continue consolation play throughout the week.
In doubles action, the nationally No. 19th-ranked tandem of junior Elena Christofi and Wolff were defeated in a battle by Mountain Region finalists Mimi Bland and Adrianna Sosnowska of Northern Arizona. After conceding the first set 4-6, Christofi and Wolff fought back to knot the match winning the set 6-3. The Georgia duo fought through three sets, ultimately falling 6-4,3-6,10-8.
Christofi and Wolff capped off a productive fall season with two top 10 wins and an appearance in the ITA Southeast Regionals, marking an 8-4 record.
