Phillips First, Bulldogs Ninth In Hawaii

LAHAINA, Hawaii --- Sophomore Trent Phillips ascended to the top of the individual leaderboard to highlight Georgia's showing on Saturday in the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational.
On Royal Ka'anapali's par-71, 6,700-yard layout, Phillips posted a second-round score of 7-under 64 to move to 11-under 129 for the tournament. Phillips is two clear of Oklahoma's Quade Cummins and three ahead of Liberty's Jonathan Yaun and Clemson's Zack Gordon heading into the final round on Sunday.
As a team, the No. 19 Bulldogs remained in ninth place as they carded a 9-under 275 on Saturday to go to 16-under 552. Washington leads at 27-under 541, followed by Oklahoma at 26-under 542 and UCLA at 25-under 543.
Senior Spencer Ralston signed for a 3-under 68 on Saturday. Junior Davis Thompson added a 1-under 70 and redshirt freshman Nicolas Cassidy posted a 2-over 73. Senior Calum Masters had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of 3-over 74.
Thompson moved to 4-under 138 for the tournament, followed by Ralston at 1-under 141, Cassidy at 3-over 145, and Masters at 4-over 146.
Trevor Phillips, a senior competing as an individual, fired a 1-over 72 on Saturday to move to 20th at 5-under 137.
The Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational will conclude on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. EDT shotgun start. Live scoring and pairings can be found at Golfstat.
