ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia women's tennis doubles tandem of junior Vivian Wolff and senior Elena Christofi capped the fall season with a win in the consolation finals at the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships in Newport Beach, Calif. Sunday evening.

Wolff and Christofi, ranked No. 19, defeated the 29th-ranked pair Jessie Gong and Samantha Martinelli of Yale in a three-set battle, 6-1,2-6,10-8. After controlling the first set, the Bulldogs were sent into a match tiebreaker where the tandem rallied to notch its final win of the fall season.

With the win, the Christofi/Wolff duo improved its fall record to 12-4.

"It was encouraging to see our ladies continue to fight after tough starts to the tournament," associate head coach Drake Bernstein said. "We were able to get better as the week went on, which is exactly what we were looking for to wrap up the fall schedule."

In the singles consolation finals, No. 37th-ranked Wolff fell to Maria Kozyreva of Saint Mary's (Calif.), ranked No. 68. After conceding the first set 4-6, Wolff battled back by winning the next four straight points, but was ultimately defeated by Kozyreva in straight sets 6-4,7-6(7).

Wolff won four straight matches to reach the consolation finals after dropping her opening-round match. She ends her productive fall tennis season with a 15-8 record.

At the Oracle Challenger Series in Houston, Texas, Georgia's top-ranked Katarina Jokic will face Mayo Hibi of Japan, ranked No. 214 by the Women's Tennis Association, this week. The event runs Nov. 10-17 and will feature action between top competitors from across the world. Jokic earned a wild card to the main draw after winning the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships last year.
