ATHENS----- Georgia's Marta Gonzalez saw her tournament run end in the semifinals of the Pepperdine Women's Collegiate Invitational Saturday in Malibu.

Gonzalez, ranked 13^thnationally, entered Saturday with an 8-1 record and faced 32^ndranked Jessica Failla of Pepperdine. Failla emerged the winner, 6-0,7-5 to set up an all-Pepperdine final as Ashley Lahey won her semifinal match over Solymar Colling (San Diego) in straight sets.

Meanwhile in consolation action, Bulldog senior Elena Christofi, ranked No. 113, registered an impressive 6-3,7-6(4) win over 30^th-ranked Stanford's Emily Arbuthnott. Georgia freshman Lea Ma fell 7-6(6),6-4 to 47^th-ranked Giulia Pairone (Michigan). Lea is now 7-2 on the year.

In doubles, the 19^th-ranked Wolff/Christofi team dropped a tight 6-4 contest over Lahey/Lisa Zaar. Also, the Ma/Gonzalez tandem were edged 7-6(4) by Stanford's Michaela Gordon and Janice Shin. Play concludes Sunday.

Meanwhile in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Georgia's Morgan Coppoc defeated Wake Forest sophomore Anna Brylin 6-0,6-2 in the first round of the prequalifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships. In the round of 32, she will defeated Mercedes Aristegui (TCU) in a tough three-setter, winning 1-6,6-3,6-2. A player must win three matches to advance to the qualifying draw, which is Oct. 7-8. Players in qualifying must win two matches to advance to the main draw, which is Oct. 9-13.
