October 28, 2019 | Men's Tennis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Georgia men's tennis freshman Erik Grevelius defeated Georgia Tech's Pablo Schelcher in the consolation finals of the 2019 ITA Southeast Regional on Monday.
Grevelius earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory to improve his overall fall record to 12-5. The Stockholm, Sweden native has now won eight of his last nine matches.
"Erik just continues to play outstanding tennis," head coach Manuel Diaz said. "He faced some adversity this week after losing his first match, and he responded like a veteran player. I am excited for him for this accomplishment and I know that the best is yet come for him here at Georgia."
Monday's win marks another impressive feat for the Bulldog freshman. Prior to this week's regional, Grevelius won three matches in two days to claim the GT Fall Invite consolation title and also won the Southern Intercollegiate consolation draw back in September.
