AN OVERTIME WIN
After a scoreless 90 minutes, Georgia needed extra time to defeat Mississippi State, 1-0, in Starkville.
The last time Georgia defeated an SEC team in overtime was in 2011, also against Mississippi State. Additionally, it was the first time Georgia shutout an SEC opponent since last season against Tennessee.
BOYAN NAMED SEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore midfielder Abby Boyan has been named the Southeastern Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following the Bulldogs' 1-0 overtime win at Mississippi State.
With less than a minute remaining in the first overtime period, Boyan scored the golden goal to secure a victory for Georgia (7-6-2, 3-3-1 SEC) in the Battle of the Bulldogs.
The Spring Lake, New Jersey native has scored two goals this season and is second on the team in shots on goal (13).
OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Bulldogs have scored 23 total goals. This is a big improvement from last year when the Bulldogs scored 16 total goals and marks the second most of head coach Billy Lesesne's tenure after the scoring 26 in 2016.
