Volleyball Adds Transfer Kaylah House

ATHENS, Ga. – Head women's volleyball coach Tom Black has announced the signing of 6-3 opposite/middle hitter Kaylah House to the 2019 roster. 
 
"We are thrilled to bring Kaylah home to Georgia and have her play her final two years in the red and black," Black said. "Kaylah brings an athleticism that can help our team in multiple positions. Even more than that, who she is as a person really impressed us. She has the character of a great teammate. Her commitment was an exciting day for us, and we are just as committed to developing her impressive potential. Kaylah House just made our program better."
 
House, a native of Atlanta, transfers from Coastal Carolina. In 2018, House played in a team-high 92 sets over 25 matches. She laid down 120 kills (1.3 per set) and hit .302 on the season, the ninth-best hitting clip in the Sun Belt. On the net, she put up 60 total blocks (0.65 per set) including 17 solo blocks. The Chanticleers finished second in the Sun Belt East with an 11-5 conference record. In league play, House hit .327, eight-best in the league. 
 
As a freshman in 2017, House played in 78 sets in 25 matches, averaging 0.28 kills per set with a .127 hitting percentage. She tallied 38 blocks (0.49 per set). 
 
She attended Westlake High School in Atlanta where she was a four-year varsity player and served as the team's captain. She was named the MVP of the team and garnered all-area honors. She played club for A5 South. 
 
House joins the signing class of middle blockers Londyn Gray (Weatherford, Texas) and Meghan Froemming (Marietta, Ga.), setter Alexa Fortin (Johns Creek, Ga.), and outside hitter Kacie Evans (Wadsworth, Ohio).
