#5 Bulldogs Fall in Game One to Rebels, 4-3

OXFORD, Miss. – The fifth-ranked Georgia softball team dropped a 4-3 decision to Ole Miss (29-21, 6-16) Friday evening on a walk-off home run in the seventh inning.
The Georgia (42-9, 15-7) offense was paced by two-hit performances by Cortni Emanuel and Justice Milz at the top of the lineup. Milz drove in two of Georgia's three runs.
In her start in the circle, Mary Wilson Avant worked four complete innings, allowing three runs on five hits. Kylie Bass (13-3) relieved Avant and worked two innings, suffering the loss in the seventh.
For the 26thtime this season, Georgia scored in the first inning. Emanuelled off with a base hit to center then stole second, her 47thstolen base of the season. She came in to score from second on a base hit down left field line by Milzwho took second on the throw home. Alyssa DiCarlolaid down a sac bunt and the first baseman muffed the throw, allowing DiCarlo to reach and Milz to score, putting Georgia ahead 2-0 in the opening stanza.
The Rebels plated three runs in the bottom of the second. Ole Miss got on the board with an RBI infield single by Autumn Gillespie then took a lead with a two-RBI double by Amanda Roth, 3-2 after two.
An RBI single to left off the bat of Milz in the top of the fifth scored pinch runner Tyler Armistead to knot the game up at 3-3.
Roth hit the walk-off home run to lead off the seventh, her sixth home run of the season, to lift the Rebels past the Bulldogs, 4-3.
The Bulldogs and Rebels will square off in game two of the series Saturday at 5 p.m., EDT.
