Brittany Gray 2018

Brittany Gray Out for Remainder of Season

April 09, 2018 | Softball

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia softball senior pitcher Brittany Gray will miss the remainder of the 2018 season with an injury to her right biceps.

Gray, a native of Greenwood, Indiana, will have surgery to repair the injury and is expected to make a full recovery.

"We've been so fortunate to have Brittany wear the Georgia red and black for almost four years," said head coach Lu Harris-Champer. "She has had a tremendous career in the circle, capped by a phenomenal senior year.

"The loss of Brittany is certainly a setback to the team, but we have the personnel in place to step up and to help guide this team the remainder of the season."

In 2018, Gray went 16-1 in the circle, pitching 12 complete games, and shutting out seven opponents. Her 0.48 ERA led the Southeastern Conference and ranked second nationally. She struck out 134 opposing hitters in 2018.

Gray finishes her career among the best in Georgia history. She finished fifth with 60 career wins and 126 appearances and eighth with 39 complete games. She is only the sixth pitcher in Georgia history to pitch 500 innings. She fell just five strikeouts shy of 500, finishing sixth with 495.

Georgia softball currently leads the SEC with an 11-4 record in league play and a 35-5 overall record.
