ATHENS, Ga. – The fifth-ranked Georgia softball team (35-5, 11-4) defeated Missouri (21-21, 4-11) in Sunday's rubber game of the series, 7-2. The win secures Georgia's fifth-straight series victory in Southeastern Conference play.

Georgia out hit Missouri 12-8, guided by a four-hit, four-RBI day by Alysen Febrey. Her hit total tied a career best. Cortni Emanuel picked up a pair of hits including the 300thof her career. Emanuel becomes only the third Georgia player to record 300 hits in her career.  In her first career start, designated player Tyler Armistead finished 2-for-3.

In the circle, Mary Wilson Avant (2-1) pitched the complete-game victory. She tied a career-best six strikeouts in her second complete game of 2018.

Missouri pushed an unearned run across the plate in the top of the second. Rylee Pierce reached on a bunt for a hit, stole second, and advanced to third on a passed ball. She scored on an infield single by Regan Nash, 1-0 Missouri. The inning ended when Hatti Moore flew out to Kendall Burtonwho threw out Nash at home from right field.

The Bulldogs found the lead with a pair of two-out runs in the third. Emanuelrecorded her 300th career hit for a two-out runner. A pinch-hit RBI base hit by Trenity Edwards tied the game at two runs apiece in the top of the fourth.

Both teams stranded the bases loaded in the fifth inning. Following the fifth, both teams had two runs, seven hits, an error, and left eight on base.

Georgia's offense erupted in the sixth inning for five runs. Armistead led off the inning with her second hit of the day. Jordan Doggett reached on a fielder's choice followed by a base hit by Emanuel. Milz singled through the right side to score Doggett and break the 2-2 tie. A walk to DiCarlo loaded the bases. Febrey's fourth hit drove in two runs, her third and fourth RBI of the day. Jessica Morgan followed with a two-RBI single of her own, widening the lead to five, 7-2.

Avant closed out the game in the seventh, locking in the win for Georgia.

Georgia returns to action with a midweek matchup with Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will play out-of-conference this weekend with a series against Mercer beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.

Georgia Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer
On the offensive outburst in the sixth inning…
"They just relaxed and let the pitches come to them. They did a great job. I'm just really proud of them for putting so many quality at-bats together. When we get the leadoff on, and we weren't able to move her, for Cortni to be able to put a slap down that stayed in the air forever, to just erase that and put us in scoring position was outstanding. That was her 300thcareer hit, that's amazing. She's our third person to do that at Georgia, that's really exciting for her. I'm just proud of the offense. Alysen had a phenomenal day at the plate. She was seeing the ball and was really crisp with it, so we could get some RBIs. I'm really proud of her."

On taking another conference series…
"That's huge, any time you can win a series in the SEC, it's a big deal. Hats off to Mary, she was amazing in the circle today, and really led our team."
