ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia gymnastics team is set to travel to St. Louis for the 2018 NCAA Gymnastics Championships.

Georgia will compete in the first semifinal session on Friday, set to begin at 1 p.m. If the GymDogs finish in the top three of the six-team meet, they will advance to the Super Six on Saturday at 7 p.m. The semifinal meet will air on ESPN2 and the Super Six will air on ESPNU.

The GymDogs are joined by No. 2 LSU, No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Nebraska, and No. 10 Arkansas on Friday. The second session includes top-ranked Oklahoma, fourth-ranked Florida, fifth-ranked Utah, eighth-ranked Kentucky, ninth-ranked California, and eleventh-ranked Washington.

"We are very proud of this team for their perseverance and determination all season long," head coach Courtney Kupets Cater said. "When everything was on the line at regionals, this team was relentless. They refused to be denied their advancement to the NCAA championship. While our coaching staff is proud of our athletes and all that this team has overcome all season long, we are continuing to build momentum as we head into St. Louis. Do not underestimate us."

For the eighth-consecutive year, the Georgia GymDogs will be competing for a national championship. Georgia clinched its spot in St. Louis by advancing through the Tuscaloosa regional, hosted by SEC rival Alabama, with a 196.500. Georgia trailed only No. 6 Alabama while besting seventh-ranked Michigan, No. 22 Missouri, No. 23 Illinois, and No. 36 Central Michigan.

Since the creation of the two-meet championship format in 1993, Georgia has advanced to 20 of 24 possible Super Six meets. The Gymdogs enter this year's championships with a national-best 10 team NCAA titles.
