Bulldogs To Honor Veazey And Taylor Saturday

ATHENS-----Make plans to arrive early for Saturday's baseball game at Foley Field as Georgia will have a special pregame recognition of Bulldog alumni Chance Veazey and Johnathan Taylor.
Veazey and Taylor had their Georgia baseball careers cut short after separate devastating spinal cord injuries in 2009 and 2011. Both eventually returned to Georgia following extensive rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, rejoined their teammates in a supporting role until earning a degree in 2013. They reside in their hometowns of Tifton (Veazey) and Acworth (Taylor).
The pregame recognition will begin at 1:40 pm Saturday. They will throw out a first pitch. Also, Georgia will unveil a permanent display on the Foley Field concourse as a tribute to these outstanding individuals. Numerous family members, former teammates and representatives of the Shepherd Center plan to be in attendance too.
The display at Foley Field honoring Taylor and Veazey will feature Augmented Reality (AR). The AR app that fans can download is called "A Legacy of Strength." It will allow fans to see even more images and videos telling the stories of these amazing Bulldogs. UGA's own software developer Josh Skleton and artists Brad Gilleland and Thel Melton from Educational Resources, a department in UGA's Veterinary School, provided their expertise for this project. Specific instructions on how to access the special features of the display will be available to fans Saturday.
Georgia (15-6, 2-1 SEC) plays host to South Carolina (13-8, 1-2) in the SEC home series opener starting Friday at 7 pm. Saturday's game will begin at 2:02 pm. All three games will be televised on SEC Network+ and be available on the Bulldog Sports Network from IMG.
