ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia head volleyball coach Tom Black announced the signings of four to the 2019 roster on Monday.
The 2019 class includes middle blockers Londyn Gray (Weatherford, Texas) and Meghan Froemming (Marietta, Ga.), setter Alexa Fortin (Johns Creek, Ga.), and outside hitter Kacie Evans (Wadsworth, Ohio).
"This is an exciting incoming class for our program," Black said. "These four young women have played and succeeded at a high level in their young careers, and they are hungry to compete. The foundation of our program is built upon learning to become the best learners we can be, and they are committed to that process. It's a very difficult one but it leads to something great. We expect a lot of them, and we know they are capable of it. They will represent UGA at a fantastic level on and off the court."

She was invited to play in the Jackson Invitational, in which she won MVP honors, and the Medina County All-Star match in 2018. Evans' junior campaign ended with all-state, all-league, and district and Gazette MVP honors. That season, she helped guide her team to a district championship. Her sophomore season included her first all-state and Gazette MVP honors. She concluded her career with 1,312 kills (5.5 kills/set), a career .340 hitting clip, 1,147 digs (4.8 digs/set), and 131 aces.

Coach Black on Evans: "Kacie has well established herself as one of the countries elite outside hitters at the junior level. Her coaches have done a great job developing and guiding her. She is a 6-rotation player who hits a heavy ball on the pin and will fight to her last breath. Kacie doesn't ask for breaks, she doesn't talk about how tired she is, she doesn't complain; she just asks how she can get better and how she can help more. Beyond that, when you watch Kacie play you see someone who is truly having fun. The sky is the limit for Kacie and we can't wait to get her here."

Coach Black on Fortin: "Alexa is a dynamic, exciting setter to watch. She has shown an excellent ability to run an offense at a speed similar to ours, and her confidence and steadiness makes the people around her better. She is an offensive setter but she also knows how to balance that with the primary responsibility of putting your hitters in a position to score. She loves to compete, will stay in the gym all day long, and has been well coached throughout her career. We are thrilled to add Alexa to our program this summer."

Each year she arrived at our camp, her skill set was greatly improved, and it was evident to us as a staff how badly she wanted this and how driven she was to constantly improve. She can hit a variety of sets in front and behind the setter and her eye work is at a really good level for a player her age. As excited as we are for Londyn to get here, we're even more excited for what she will be at the end of her career here. We can say this because we know the work and intensity she will bring each day she's here."
