January 06, 2018 | Football
ATLANTA, Ga. --- The Georgia Bulldogs are going to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday. So is Gwinnett County Police Department Cpl. Michael Duncan.
Duncan was surprised with tickets provided by the Bulldogs on Friday at Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Duncan, a longtime fan and season ticket holder, got the word via a video invitation message recorded by Georgia standouts Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and Trenton Thompson.
Duncan sustained a spinal cord injury on Sept. 1 when the helicopter in which he was flying crashed after assisting police officers chasing a suspect. Duncan, who was left paralyzed from the waist down, has been undergoing rehabilitation at Shepherd Center since September. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and some team members visited Duncan at Shepherd on Nov. 24.
