McGarity's Minutes - January 18

Dear Georgia Bulldogs,
Now that the dust from the 2017 football season has settled, we should all be very proud of the vast accomplishments we achieved this season. Congratulations to Coach Smart, his staff, the student-athletes --- and especially to the senior class! This particular senior class will always be remembered as the class that helped establish a new era of Georgia football!
Much has been written about these accomplishments and we can all reflect on the things we remember from the season. Wins against our rivals, Notre Dame, the SEC Championship, Rose Bowl, and participating in the CFP National Championship Game --- we should all be thankful for being able to experience so many memorable moments this Fall!
I know Coach Smart joins me in giving thanks to our fans! From the full houses for all six home games, the takeovers in our opponents stadium (e.g., Notre Dame, Vanderbilt), the overwhelming number of Bulldog faithful in Mercedes Benz Stadium and the historic Rose Bowl, showing up loud and proud for the Dawg Walk --- it's hard to put into words the appreciation we have for those who love the Red & Black! THANK YOU!
And now the really, really hard work begins. As Coach Smart said following the last game of the season in the locker room, if we believe we can just show up next year and think we can be as successful as we were this season, then we are greatly mistaken. It will take exceptional leadership from the new group of seniors, an attack-the-day attitude and a selfless culture that will breed continuous success.
While the 2018 edition of the Georgia Bulldogs will be conducting off-season conditioning very soon, we are forging ahead with planning for the new season. G-Day will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018! While the West End Zone Project will not be completed until mid-July 2018, we expect to have the new video board ready for viewing for G-Day, which will be more than 30% larger than the previous video board.
In closing, we encourage you to support our Olympic sports, many of which are at the halfway point of their season, and others who have yet to start. We have so many fantastic stories to tell in each sport, featuring phenomenal student-athletes doing great things!
