ATHENS, Ga. — Virginia, Ohio State, Georgia and North Carolina advanced to the NCAA semifinal round with wins on Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens.

The Cavaliers were dominant in a 4-1 win over Texas to start the day while Ohio State advanced via a knock-down-drag-out 4-3 battle with TCU. The pair will meet in the semifinals on Monday for a spot in Wednesday’s national championship.

The evening’s matches, interrupted by a five-hour weather delay that forced play to go late into the night, saw host Georgia and ninth-seed North Carolina advance in a pair of 4-2 upsets. The Bulldogs dropped the doubles point before rallying to take four of five completed singles matches while UNC took the doubles point and battled Wake Forest in a tight 3-2 split in singles. The nine and 13 seeds will clash for a spot in the national championship match.

The NCAA Championships continue on Sunday with the women’s quarterfinal matches before the men’s tournament resumes Monday at noon with the semifinal matches.
