Highlights from Saturday's Georgia baseball game against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

April 15, 2017

Final Stats

FAYETTEVILLE -- Eleventh-ranked Arkansas completed a sweep of Georgia with an 11-3 win Saturday in front of a Baum Stadium crowd of 9,143.

Arkansas now is 29-8 overall and leads the SEC with an 11-4 mark while Georgia fell to 15-22 overall and 4-11 in the SEC.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first after freshman Cam Shepherd reached with his team-high 12th double and then a two-out RBI by freshman Aaron Schunk. In the second, the Razorback struck for seven runs on six hits plus a pair of Bulldog errors. Carson Shaddy and Jax Biggers had two-run singles and Chad Spanberger hit a three-run home run to cap the outburst. Trailing 7-3 in the fourth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out and Razorback reliever Kevin Kopps came in and got Shepherd to hit into a double play. Arkansas also turned double plays in the fifth and sixth frames to extinguish potential Bulldog rallies. The Razorbacks would add two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth to build an 11-3 lead.

Kopps earned the win pitching the final 5.2 innings to move his record to 2-0 while Georgia starter Chase Adkins fell to 4-4 as he was the first of six Bulldog pitchers to see action Saturday.

Georgia returns to action Wednesday at fourth-ranked Clemson. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. EDT and be available via ACC Network Extra and the Bulldog Sports Network from IMG.

Dawg Tracks

*Freshman Tucker Maxwell connected for his fourth home run while freshman Tucker Bradley went 2-for-3 with his second career double.

Coach's Corner: Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin

"Arkansas has a really good team, and a great offense one through nine in the order. When you have a chance to get outs, you have to get them, and we didn't a few times. We didn't make a play on a fielder's choice, there were a couple of infield pop ups that fell plus we had some base running mistakes that cost us some runs. We have to play better especially against a good team. I was disappointed in the way we played today, and we have to flush this and move on. We'll have a few days off and then get ready to play a really good Clemson team on Wednesday."
