Final Stats

Athens---Junior Chase Adkins capped off a dominant weekend by the Georgia pitching staff with a complete game four-hitter as the Bulldogs posted back-to-back shutouts including a 1-0 victory Sunday.

In a series in which runs were at a premium, it was the Bulldogs (5-6) who pushed across the lone run of the day in the second inning. A leadoff double by freshman catcher Austin Biggar, then a groundball to the right side by junior Keegan McGovern, and a sacrifice fly by freshman Aaron Schunk gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Georgia managed just two hits on the day against the Blazers who dropped to 6-5. Adkins faced just three over the minimum for his first career complete game as a Bulldog and improve his record to 2-0. Blazer left-hander Thomas Lowery (0-1) was the hard luck loser in this one, allowing just one run on two hits in 5.2 innings before being pulled in favor of Carson Jones who went the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs appeared to be in business looking to add insurance in the seventh after a leadoff walk by Adam Sasser and a sacrifice bunt by Biggar. But the Georgia threat quickly ended after McGovern's soft liner was caught in shallow center and turned in to a double play.

Georgia blanked the Blazers 2-0 on Saturday and coupled with Sunday's gem, it marked the first back-to-back shutouts by the Bulldogs since 2012. Georgia plays host to Xavier on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Dawg Tracks

*Chase Adkins (2-0) tossed the first complete game for the Bulldogs this season and first since Robert Tyler one-hit Alabama last year.

*With his double today, freshman Austin Biggar continued his hot hitting, moving his season average to .320, and he's hit safely in three games

*Freshman Tucker Bradley collected Georgia's only other hit of the day, a bunt single, to extend his hitting streak to four games.

*Georgia posted a team ERA of 0.64 against UAB, allowing just two runs in 28 innings as the team went 2-1 in the series. The Bulldogs scored only four runs.

Coach's Corner Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin

"Overall, I really like this team; we just have to score some more runs, that's the bottom line you have to score runs to win games. Three runs in the last two wins, you don't see that very often. Our pitching carried us this weekend. Everyone that took the mound this weekend did their job and as hitters we have to do a better job scoring runs."

Player Perspective

Chase Adkins on his complete game shutout:

"I've never been in a groove quite like that. I've pitched like that my whole life trying to get into the hitters head. All my pitches were working and my arm felt good."
