With the Patriots' win in Super Bowl LI, David Andrews and Malcolm Mitchell are the first former Georgia players since Chris Clemons with the Seahawks in 2014 to become Super Bowl champions. In addition, the pair of Patriots were the first former Bulldogs to win the Super Bowl in the same year since Dannell Ellerbe and DeAngelo Tyson in 2013 with the Ravens.
At least one former Bulldog has been in the Super Bowl for an SEC-leading 16 consecutive years. Over that 16-year period, 29 different players have combined to make a total of 41 trips to the game.
