Softball Hosts Midweek Doubleheader

ATHENS, Ga. --- After a strong opening weekend, the No. 10 Georgia softball team (5-0) hosts its first midweek matchup with Presbyterian (1-3) on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The games will be featured on SEC Network+/WatchESPN, as game two will begin at approximately 6 p.m. ET. Admission to Jack Turner Stadium is free for all regular-season home games while it will be $1 hot dog night at the park.

LOOKING BACK ON OPENING WEEKEND
Georgia opened the 2017 campaign a perfect 5-0 in the Red and Black Showcase. The Bulldogs used an SEC-best .449 batting average in the weekend sweep, finishing with 53 hits in the five games. In the circle, Georgia relied heavily on its veterans, as Brittany Gray and Kylie Bass saw 25.2 of Georgia's 29 innings pitched. The returners each had one earned run each to their name while combining for 19 strikeouts.
DICARLO SHOWS POWER
Sophomore Alyssa DiCarlo seemed to pick up right where she left off in 2016. The team's top returning power hitter, DiCarlo posted seven hits in the five games, as she tied for the SEC lead with three home runs. The Arizona native finished with nine RBI, collecting a new career high with six after hitting out two home runs against Syracuse. That was the second time in her career to hit two home runs in a single game, as she also did so at Missouri last season.
BULLDOGS COME BACK FOR WALKOFF WIN
Down 5-2 heading to the bottom seventh, Georgia came back for the walk-off 6-5 win over Syracuse on Friday night. The Bulldogs built a comeback with freshmen Alysen Febrey, Justice Milz and Ciara Bryan collecting singles before junior transfer Kendall Burton knocked a triple off the right field wall to knot it at 5 each. C. Emanuel then stepped up to put down a RBI single through the left side to bring in the winning run. The last time Georgia came back from a three-run deficit was against Ole Miss in May 2016.
VETERAN PITCHERS PROVIDE STABILITY
Georgia's veteran pitchers Brittany Gray and Kylie Bass saw a majority of time in the circle in the season's first five games. The duo combined to pitch 25.2 of Georgia's 29 innings. Bass didn't give up any walks while Gray led the team in strikeouts with 14. Both held opponents below .200 hitting, as Gray kept opponents to a .107 clip and Bass to a .194 mark.
