Bulldogs Improve To Sixth In Hawaii

LAHAINA, Hawaii --- The Georgia men's golf team improved two spots to sixth place on Saturday in the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic.
Playing the par-71, 6,700-yard layout at the Ka'anapali Golf Course, the Bulldogs fired a 1-over 285 in the second round to move to 7-under 561. LSU leads the tournament at 25-under 543, followed by California at 22-under 546 and South Carolina at 21-under 547.
Sophomore Spencer Ralston paced the Bulldogs on Saturday with a 2-under 69. Sophomore Trevor Phillips signed for a 1-under 70, followed by freshman Davis Thompson at 1-over 72 and freshman John Hilliard Catanzaro at 3-over 74. Sophomore Will Chandler had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of 5-over 76.
Ralston and Phillips are tied for 10th at 5-under 137, five strokes off the pace set by California's Collin Morikawa (10-under 132). Thompson moved to 1-under 141, followed by Catanzaro at 4-over 146 and Chandler at 9-over 151.
Playing as an individual, junior Matthew Beringer fired a 1-over 72 Saturday and moved to even-par 142 for the tournament.
The Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic, the Bulldogs' final meet of the fall, will conclude on Sunday. Live scoring can be found here.
